Playing Gears of War 4 is a love-hate relationship for many gamers. Its fast-paced, challenging and addictive gameplay sometimes generates anger and frustration. Overall, GoW 4 is a stable game, but there are still many technical issues affecting it even today. One of these issues is the Bigelow error, an error message that randomly prevents players from connecting to GoW 4’s servers.

The bad news is that this error is affecting more and more people. Judging by user reports, it appears that Bigelow’s frequency has been on the rise since the beginning of 2017.

Gears of War 4 Bigelow error: Unable to connect to online services

This error can prevent players from connecting to GoW 4 servers for days on end, but there are also gamers who haven’t been able to play GoW 4 for months.

I’ve been getting this error for about a week now. The game loads fine and I can receive my daily rewards packs but when it comes to playing online multiplayer it will not connect. I have an xbox gold membership which is paid and up to date and all my other games work fine. […]  it’s really annoying to not be able to play my favorite game that I’ve paid $100 for. A lot of other people seem to have had the same issue as I searched “BIGELOW error” on this forum site and many complaints came up but no solutions that I saw. […]

Players have tried various workarounds hoping to fix the Bigelow error including uninstalling and reinstalling the game, using a different Box, and spending hours with tech support on the phone. Nothing works. Then, all of a sudden, the Bigelow error disappears and GoW 4 works again.

TC has only recently replied to player messages, confirming it’s investigating the issue:

Pez actually responded to a twitter message after I kept hounding him to respond.  This was his tweet to me “We are looking into the Bigelowe issues on our end but may require more info from users. Will provide an update once we have 1”
That doesn’t sound too promising. What does require more info from users mean? Seems like that have no idea what the problem is at the moment.
I just wish they would respond to an actual thread in their own technical support forum.

Hopefully, TC will soon roll out a hotfix for the Bigelow error. If by any chance you’ve come across a workaround to fix this error, feel free to list the troubleshooting steps in the comment section below.
