The Firefox-based Pale Moon browser is popular for its customization options and many choose it over popular options like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. But it seems that X (Twitter) isn’t interested anymore in the browser user base. If you visit X.com right now, you’ll receive a message saying This browser is no longer supported, and the page suggests using a supported browser on twitter.com to continue.

Pale Moon is an open-source web browser that is designed to provide a balanced and common-sense browsing experience while complying with official web standards and specifications. It is based on Firefox code but has its own optimized layout and rendering engine called Goanna.

X (formerly Twitter) no longer works on Pale Moon

X, formerly known as Twitter, has recently dropped support for the Pale Moon browser. That immediately raised some eyebrows, as the Pale Moon developer has expressed disappointment with X’s decision.

It is unclear why X has decided to drop support. However, one possible reason could be the fact that Pale Moon is not as widely used as mainstream browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. And that despite being a capable browser that provides a unique browsing experience and regular updates for its users.

It is also important to note that Pale Moon is still being actively developed and maintained by a non-profit community. X should support open-source projects like Pale Moon that offer an alternative to mainstream browsers. If you’re a Pale Moon user, you don’t need to worry, as you can still access X/Twitter in the browser.

How to make X.com/Twitter work in the Pale Moon browser

  1. Visit about:config.
  2. Tick the checkmark and click I promise to be careful.
  3. Find the pref general.useragent.override.twitter.com.
  4. Double-click and delete the string. Then, set its value as empty.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Now visit twitter.com and log in as you’d normally do and it should work without any prompts.

After following the steps above, you should be able to use X (Twitter) on Pale Moon without issues. There’s not yet an official statement from X regarding this issue, but as soon as things change, we’ll update you. But what do you think about this decision?
