If you have ever wanted to do more with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft has found a way for you to make and receive calls.

A new ‘Teams Phone with Calling Plan’ is on the horizon as Microsoft plans to launch the service plan soon.

The company aims to simplify the purchasing process and simplify enterprise-grade capabilities of small and medium-sized businesses by consolidating Microsoft 365 Business Voice and Enterprise bundles.

PSTN calls now available

With the new Teams Phone calling plan cloud-hosted service, customers will be able to make and receive public switched telephone network) PSTN calls. These will be available on both mobile phones and landlines in Microsoft teams.

The service plan is reliable and secure with features such as voicemail transcription that will soon be available, auto-attendants, call queues and consultative transfers.

The end goal is to attend to the calling needs of small businesses. In a blog post, Microsoft explained the reason behind this new launch.

“Teams Phone with Calling Plan is an all-in-one communication solution that helps SMBs reduce costs and simplify operations. It brings together calling, chat, meetings, and collaboration into a single app, enabling users to make phone calls from anywhere, on any device—including computers, smartphones, desk phones, and meeting rooms. It combines essential telephony components: A phone system and domestic calling plan, into a single package.” 

Coming soon

The new Teams Phone will have a Calling plan bundle and will be available at the start of 2022. Users will also be able to purchase through the official website on January 3.

Once the phone is released, Microsoft plans to expand its availability to Microsoft 365 subscribers in subsequent months.

Organizations with Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, F1, F3, E3, A3 and Office 365 F1, F3, E1, E3, A1, A3” licenses can access the new Teams Phone automatically.
