Acer Puts Chrome OS and Windows 10 Head-to-Head in its New Convertibles
Acer recently announced its first ever convertible Chromebook, along with the new Windows 10 laptop, which features 6th-generation Intel Core processors and USB 3.1 Type-C port, at IFA in Berlin. Besides these ‘main products,’ the company also revealed some new gaming laptops, tablets and smartphones.
European’s biggest tech convention, IFA, is currently taking place in Berlin, and some of the world’s biggest tech makers are here to present their new products. Samsung, LG, Motorola and others have already unveiled new notebooks, and Acer just joined the company with these new gadgets.
The company’s first ever Chromebook, Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible will be available in consumer and commercial versions. As for the specifications, it comes with a 11-6.-inch display (1366 x 768 resolution) and weights 1.25kg.
It is powered by Intel N3150 or N3050 Celeron processor, with 2GB or 4GB or RAM memory, and with 16GB or 32GB of SSD. Of course, it is powered by Chrome OS. As its name says, it is a convertible device, with four modes of operation: display, laptop, pad, and tent.
Another notebook that Acer presented at IFA is Aspire R 13 Convertible. This laptop is powered by Windows 10, and offers very powerful performances and specifications.
Chrome OS or Windows 10: What’s it gonna be?
This notebook comes with 3.3-inch display, with either 2560 x 1440 or 1920 x 1080 resolution. It is powered by Intel 2.3GHz i5 6200U or Intel 2.5GHz Core i7 6500U processor, and features 4GB or 8GB of RAM memory, and 256GB to 1TB of hard disk space. Graphics card is Intel HD Graphics 520, and the device also features a webcam, USB Type-C and Wifi N. As we said, the operating system is 64-bit version of Windows 10, and battery lasts 8 to 10 hours (depending on the model).
The R 11 will go on sale next month in North America, starting at $299 per model. While it will become available in November in other countries, for the price of 299 euros. The R 13 model will be available in October, with prices of $899 in the US, and 1,099 euros across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
IFA 2015 will be on until Wednesday, 9th September, and we expect many more announcements and unveils of the new pieces of technology by worlds biggest tech makers.
