Asus has recently launched two new VivoMini Windows PCs: UN62 and UN42. What is interesting about these two models is their chassis. They come with a 131:131:42 mm compact chassis and are powered by fourth generation Intel processors.

Each model comes in two variants and according to the manufacturer, they are suitable both for home and office use. Of course, being very compact, these models are perfect for those who want to save some space. And thanks to their small size, these PCs need only 6.95W to function when idle, as much as a LED light bulb. They are also very quiet due to optimized low speed fan settings that reduce the noise at a 18.5 dB level, or 26.3 dB when used at full capacity – that is 60% below the industry standard.

VivoMini comes with Intel HD Graphics to give you perfect HD image quality. UN62 offers UHD display support for ultra-realistic images. Both support up to three independent displays through HDMI and DisplayPort++ and there is no need for an additional graphics card.

ASUS VivoMini features a total of four USB 3.0 ports and the easy-access side ports allow you to charge your mobile devices in half the usual time. It uses Dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi that guarantees stronger signals and is three times faster than previous Wi-Fi versions thus offering super-fast and stable internet connections. VivoMini also has Bluetooth 4.0.

As for the price tag, you can buy the UN42 powered by Celeron 2957U for $185 and the UN62 Core i5-4210U for $450. Both models are available barebone. There is also one UN42 version that costs $310 that incorporates Windows 8.1, 2GB of RAM and 32GB SSD. The UN62 that incorporates a Core i3-4030U processor  is a little less expensive, it costs $390.

UN42 and UN62 in short:

  • Incorporates Windows 8.1 or other editions available
  • Ultra-compact 0.6L mini PC measuring 131 x 131 x 42mm
  • Full-fledged functionality with 4th Gen Intel® processors
  • Cool and reliable ultra-low power PC that runs 26.3dB at full load, 60% quieter than industry standards
  • Extensive I/O connectivity, with HD output and multi-display support or UHD support for UN62
  • Lightning-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi, with up to 200GB of free cloud space or up to 100GB of free ASUS WebStorage space for UN62
  • Easy PC and cloud management for routine maintenance, servicing and storage synchronization
  • VESA-mount compatible for a tidy, clutter-free workstation
