Computer-aided design

Computer-aided design, also known as CAD, is the use of computers in the creation of various designs. By using CAD software, the designer can drastically improve its quality of design and share easily its design with others.

Thanks to CAD software, the designer can create 2D or 3D diagrams, and these diagrams can be rotated for better analysis. Regarding the objects, they can be depicted using vector graphics for traditional drafting or raster graphics for the overall appearance of designed objects. Computer-aided design is used for electronic and mechanical design, as well as for technical drawing.

It’s worth mentioning that CAD output can contain information such as materials, processes, dimensions, and tolerances, thus allowing designers to follow specific conventions.
