In 2018, Microsoft will release two major updates for Windows 10. The first update is currently being worked on, and the code name for it is Redstone 4.

Just recently, a new Redstone 4 build has been made available for most of the users in the Windows Insiders rings. Those in the United States are also getting a Cortana upgrade. More on that below.

Cortana Update

The new update will bring a Collections feature that will allow users to save videos, links, pages, etc, so that you can easily locate them in the future. It is speculated to be similar to the save post feature in Facebook.

But, this new Cortana feature can be used on any webpage, as long as you are using the Microsoft Edge browser.

Users can enable automatic detection, which will prompt Cortana to help save things when you are browsing the internet. This new feature will work for you when you are shopping for new items, looking at books, looking at a new movie trailer, looking for websites, and much more.

It will make it much more convenient to access things in the future. All you have to do is click a button and your page will be added into your collection.

Furthermore, this feature is a great way to share your links, webpages to your mobile devices. Through Cortana, you will be able to access your collection on your phone, Windows 10 device, or tablet.

Other improvements are also being rolled in to the Cortana update. The Redstone 4 update will change how Cortana communicates with the Action Center in Windows 10.

In short, Microsoft is changing the location of Cortana’s recommendations and insights. Now, you will be able to access Cortana through the Action Center. This will give more room for the interface to include other features such as tips and tricks.

The company is disabling Cortana’s proactive information in build 17017. It will only be accessible in the Action center in a soon to be released update for Windows Insiders.

The Collections feature that will be rolled out for Cortana, is certainly interesting. It looks like a highly, convenient tool, that will take off in popularity, especially if you are a regular user of Microsoft Edge.

Only certain Microsoft Insider rings can access this feature at the moment. However, all Windows 10 users will be able to download the Redstone 4 update sometime next year around March or April.
