The official ESPN app for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users is one of the best sports apps available in the Windows Store. Along with WatchESPN, it brings the latest news and video coverage in the world of sports. A new update makes the app even better.

Watching sports coverage straight on your Windows 8/Windows 8.1 tablet while sitting in your bed is really comfortable. If you live in the North America, then ESPN is probably among your favorite TV channels that you enjoy on mobile devices, as well. The app can be downloaded for free (link at the end of the article) and has a size of only 10.7 MB. Of course, to enjoy its premium features, you might be required to pay for a subscription.

According to the changelog of the latest update released in the Windows Store, the official ESPN app for Windows 8 has now been completely optimized for Windows 8.1, but you can still install it on those devices that haven’t upgraded yet to Windows 8.1. This means that you can now make use of all the live tile size and also the multitasking snap mode.

Besides this, new windowing views are now available and the audio player has been updated, as well. As for the design updates. if you have been using the app before, you will now see that the News, Sports, Team, Podcenter, Magazine, and Player hubs look much smoother. However, as you will see in the video from below, there seem to be some problems loading certain videos, so we’re reaching out to ESPN to fix this.

My favorite section of the app is ‘Photos’, as you will find there some really awesome, wallpaper-like pictures to feed your sport passion. And what’s really cool is that for a limited time, you will be able to enjoy ESPN Insider content for free. We don’t know how much this will last, so hurry up and follow the link from below to download the app.
