Finnair saves money and streamlines operations by switching to Office 365

Microsoft offers a collection of productivity products for companies. Historically Microsoft’s portfolio was a Office and Windows server tools. From there companies could build their own solutions and run their own servers in house. However, this model has been changing over the years. Now, companies are deploying mobile and cloud solutions which can work in tandem with desktop and server software.

Finnair has recently made the transition to the modern age of productivity with Office 365. Adapting these mobile and cloud solutions enables employees to work from anywhere and keep connected and productive regardless of device or location. Office 365 has helped Finnair to stop managing their on-premises servers and focus on air travel.

With Microsoft managing their cloud and spam-filtering, Finnair has less complexities. Office 365 also enables new methods of communicating and collaborating. Previously Finnair used a file server which employees would use to share documents. Now they can collaborate in real time online and keep up-to-date with Yammer. Finnair also used to use standard phones to deal with pressing customer issues. Now with Lync Online, Finnair employees are able to open multiple lines of communication via chat, voice, video or screen sharing. This enables faster response and better customer service.

Ultimately better tools come at a cost. In this case, however, Finnair will save 15% on IT costs. These savings come from competitive pricing, and simpler IT solutions. Office 365 billing works per user per month, which means Finnair can easily and accurately predict IT costs. Overall this enables Finnair to provide better customer service, have less complex IT, and lower costs by moving to Office 365.
