Gears 5 is unplayable on Nvidia cards

This history of problems with Nvidia graphic cards is not new. By the look of things, AMD is performing better as compared to Nvidia these days.

Many gamers who tried to play Gears 5 on their Nvidia GPU-powered computers reported that the game crashed on launch.

For example, one gamer who attempted to play the game explained the problem in the following manner:

Yep, just played for about 45 minutes and it hard froze my pc on a 1060. Could still hear subtle background noise, no gun fire or player noise though. Sigh, I was having a lot of fun too. If it isn’t fixed by launch I’m not buying it, plane and simple.

Another player who tried three games confirmed that all of them crashed as well. This is not a new bug and it was initially reported on Gears of War 4.

It is a bit surprising that Nvidia didn’t bother to fix this problem. This issue started a long discussion on Reddit.

Gears of War 4 on PC with an Nvidia graphic card has been freezing for more than 2 years now. Neither Nvidia nor The Coallition were able to fix it, it says a lot! Gears 5 is an AMD sponsored game and AMD released a driver for the beta while Nvidia didn’t even bother releasing a game ready driver for it, it’s says a lot too!! I have very low expectations for this game to work on Nvidia Gpus and The Coalition know it that’s why they moved to AMD partnership.

The Reddit thread further confirmed that this issue only affects Nvidia cards.

I’m pretty sure it’s the same or similar. Everyone’s problems seem to be isolated to 10 series Nvidia cards and people on Maxwell, Turing or AMD like me seem to have no issues.

This situation is pretty disappointing for many because players are unable to enjoy their favorite games. Nvidia needs to release a driver update as soon as possible to retain its customers.
