Gears of War 4 has officially received cross-play support, bringing PC and Xbox One gamers together to the same table. With the introduction of cross-play in Social Quickplay, The Coalition hopes to boost the game’s popularity and enhance the gaming experience on both platforms.
This change is meant to be a permanent move for the future of Social Quickplay. It is worth mentioning that the first few months are actually going to be a trial period in order to monitor player feedback. In this manner, TC wants to make sure that the data collected during the Test Weekend was indeed representative.
Also, Core and Competitive will remain platform independent, which means that Xbox players will be matched with each other and Windows 10 players with each other. The cross-play Test Weekend revealed that GoW 4 players obtained similar results on both platforms, confirming that cross-play was feasible. However, TC really wants to make sure that the Ranked experiences are as closely matched and competitive as possible, and has decided to extend the trial period.
