Microsoft Adds H.264 Recording Support for Apps in Windows 8.1, 10
The H.264 recording support for applications in Windows 8 has been one of them most requested features by developers and now Microsoft has listened to them with this update. Find below more on this.
The following supports will be added to Windows 8.1 to support the H.264 camera: Always use the dependent pin for capture. The dependent pin is based on the .inf file entry as soon as the capture is completed. Windows RT apps that are used for communication use the H.264 pin for recording. All other apps use the preview pin for recording.

This change is part of the update rollup KB 2955164, like many other fixes and improvements that we have already covered. So, with this new improvement, Microsoft is
adding recording support H.264 for modern communication apps in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2. Here’s the list of all operating systems affected by the change:
- Windows 8.1,Enterprise, Pro
- Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter, Standard, Foundation
