According to a well-established practice, after introducing the PC version, Microsoft has released the Mobile variant of the Windows 10 Creators Update. The latest update, in fact, brought just a few improvements to mobile devices, but unfortunately, a few issues, as well.

It’s unrealistic to expect the perfection, but some all-around stability and seamless use of the essential features are not the unreasonable aspirations. Allegedly, the latest Windows 10 update for Windows-powered handsets, created some issues with the connectivity functions. Namely, users around the world reported various issues that affect both Wi-FI and Mobile Data connection. And they’re simply unable to connect to the internet with neither of the two.

For that purpose, we gathered some of the best-known workarounds for this issue. If you have exact or similar issues, take into the consideration the list below.

How to resolve connection issues in Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update

Restart the device

Even though it may sound too obvious to comfort you, this is the first troubleshooting step you should take with any given issue. More often than not, the occasional restart can assure all-around stability and resolve the minor annoyances. So, power off your device and power it on again.

If the problem is still there and you’re unable to connect to a preferred network, move on to other solutions.

Check the router

On some occasions, the update can inflict changes on the router/phone relation or even corrupt it. Once you’ve restarted your device, you can safely move to troubleshooting your wireless router. There are a few things you can do to get the router out of the equation, and we’re presenting them below.

  • Reboot the router. Turn it off. Wait for a minute or so, and then turn it on.
  • Check connectivity with other devices like PC or an alternative handset.
  • Check cables and make sure everything is properly connected.
  • Look out for overheating and signal infringement. Make sure that the router isn’t close to heat sources and other digital devices.
  • Restore router to factory settings.
  • Replace the router.

If the router is not the catalyst of the awoken connectivity issues, check out the following workarounds.

Disable Bluetooth

In more than a few cases, the connection issues were resolved by disabling the Bluetooth service. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not exactly on the best terms, so make sure to use them separately. If your Bluetooth is on, you can easily disable it in under the Notification panel. Or, in case, you’re missing the shortcut icon, you can navigate to Settings > Bluetooth and tap Off to disable it.

On the other hand, if you’re still unable to connect via Wi-Fi, keep moving trough the list.

Delete a network and reconnect

Above mentioned corruptions of the connection at hand can also be resolved by deleting and reestablishing SSID again. That way you can eliminate the stir created after the Creators Update and, hopefully, use the essential Wi-Fi feature just as intended. If you’re unsure how to do that, follow the instructions below:

  1. Tap Settings under Notification pane.
  2. Open Network & wireless.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Tap Manage.
  5. Press and hold the network name until you see the Delete option.
  6. Tap Delete.
  7. Reset your device.
  8. Search for available networks and insert a password to connect.
  9. If your network is hidden, navigate to Settings > Network & wireless > Wi-Fi > Manage > Add.
  10. Add your SSID (network name) with a password and try connecting.

Moreover, you can add your phone’s MAC address to router access list to overcome the possible unexpected boundaries.

Add your phone’s MAC address to router’s Access list

If the standard ‘delete/reconnect’ approach wasn’t enough to get the things going, you can try and manually add your MAC address to your router access list. This may be a bit confusing, so make sure to follow the instructions below and you’ll do it in no time:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Open System.
  3. Choose About.
  4. Open More info and scroll to MAC address.
  5. Write down the device’s MAC address.
  6. Now, connect your router to your PC by using the LAN cable.
  7. In the browser’s address bar, type the router’s IP address. Most of the time it’s but it may differ.
  8. Enter your credentials to log into the router settings.
  9. Navigate to MAC Adress Filter or MAC Access List.
  10. Add the MAC address you previously wrote down on the list, and save changes.

That should help you resolve your Wi-Fi issues. At least, it worked for most of the troubled users.

Check the SIM card and manually insert carrier’s APN

Now, when it comes to mobile data, we need a bit different approach in order to resolve the connection issues. The first thing you should do is check your SIM card and your data package. If the SIM card is placed properly and you have the available data, move on to resetting your carrier’s APN.

In order to manually insert the APN credentials, follow the instructions below:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Open Network & wireless.
  3. Tap Cellular & SIM.
  4. Choose SIM settings.
  5. Tap Add Internet APN.
  6. Insert the values your carrier provided and save as a new APN.
  7. Under SIM settings, set the created APN as active.
  8. Now, test the connection and check for changes.

Restore Factory Settings

And finally, if you’re unable to connect via Wi-Fi or Mobile data (or both in the worst case scenario), factory reset is the only viable solution for all intents and purposes. But, don’t forget that this procedure will relieve you of all your data, apps, and custom settings, so make sure to back them up timely. This is how you can restore factory settings:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap System.
  3. Open About.
  4. Tap Reset your phone.
  5. Tap Yes when prompted and that should do it.
  6. Your phone will restart and it may take some time until the procedure is finished.

After the reset, you should see radical improvements in the connectivity department.
