Download KB4049179, the first Adobe Flash Player security update for Windows 10 version 1709
The first Adobe Flash Player security patch for the Fall Creators Update is now available for download. Patch KB4049179 addresses a series of security vulnerabilities in many versions of Windows, including the latest release.
The official description for this update reads:
This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player that is installed on any supported edition of Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, Windows 10 Version 1511, Windows 10 Version 1607, Windows 10 Version 1703, Windows 8.1, or Windows RT 8.1
Users confirmed that this Flash update fixed the issue where audio did not switch to the headset when playing a Flash video on Internet Explorer or Edge.
You can download and install KB4049179 automatically through Windows Update. You can also get the standalone package from the Microsoft Update Catalogue website.
As a quick reminder, if you install a language pack after you install KB4049179, you must reinstall the update. To avoid that, you can install any language packs you need before you hit the update button.
KB4049179 is not the only update that Microsoft pushed out after releasing the latest version of Windows 10. Update KB4043961 is another path that targets security issues, adding a series of improvements to various Windows components.
