Microsoft released the latest build to the Beta Insider Channel, KB5031459, the third build of the week for the Insiders, after the Canary build, and the Dev Build.

But contrary to the other ones, that offer more changes, features, and improvements, KB5031459 is quite a small build. It doesn’t offer much, but it does come with an important update: the build changed the way Beta builds are released from now.

Microsoft will no longer release separate Beta builds, instead, users can opt to receive gradual updates or all of the updates, by turning ON the toggle for them via Settings > Windows Update.

REMINDER: All Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will now be on the same build (Build 22635.xxxx) via an enablement package. For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle (shown in the image below) to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your device over time once they are ready.

KB5031459: All the details

As we mentioned earlier, KB5031459 is a small build, with a few changes and improvements. Either way, you can see the complete list below.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to everyone in the Beta Channel

[Start menu]

  • Under All apps in the Start menu, Windows 11 system components will now show a “system” label.
  • The Xbox Game Bar will now show as just Game Bar under the Start menu and also under Settings > System > Apps > Installed apps. This change will come through a Game Bar update via the Microsoft Store.

  • The improved screen casting experience introduced with Build 22631.2129 has been temporarily disabled to fix some bugs. We plan to re-enable this in a future Beta Channel flight.

Fixes for everyone in the Beta Channel

  • Fixed an issue causing Start menu to crash on launch if the display language was set to Czech or Slovak.
  • Fixed an issue where the search icon in the taskbar wasn’t appearing correctly for people using search icon and label.
