Some tipster found on the Windows Central forums claims that Cricket Wireless the carrier without a contract, will start selling the Lumia 650 phone produced by Microsoft with Windows 10 Mobile running on it for free for anybody who switches the old phone number from any other carrier than AT&T.

If you want to buy it, Cricket is selling the Lumia 650 for $49.99 after recent promotions. RumoredNow, who is a forum member on Windows Central, posted the tip online and says that this free offer will be available both online and through the Cricket retail stores. Some of the stores can also offer you a $25 discount as well, if they waive the normal activation fee.

The post also says that those who are already Cricket customers or anyone who either adds a new Cricket number or ports an old one from AT&T can still get their hands on Lumia 650 at for the price of $49.99. However, we have no information as to when this promotion will end. The downside of this deal is the phone purchased will be locked to the carrier for six months. You can cut down the period when it is locked down if you choose to use the $70 plan with unlimited options.

Even so, this is just some unofficial information posted online. Before you get your hopes up, you might want to wait for official confirmation of this promotion.

And if we don’t even know whether it’s true or not, we also don’t know if the prices are remaining the same or they will be replaced either. As a backup measure, you can inquire yourself at any representative.
