Microsoft Edge even not start on Windows 10

Whenever I click on Microsoft edge, the window opens, and just after few seconds, automatically closed down even before getting the home screen.

How do I fix it?

How I fixed Microsoft Edge on Windows 10

Problem: Microsoft Edge stopped working or working properly… How this happened is a mystery but it was un-usable. Internet Explorer 11 and Google Chrome were working but were struggling. So I thought it was Windows 10 or a disk problem… I performed a CHKDSK /R on HD and I also performed the “sfc /scannow” . Nothing was fixing the problem.

HOWEVER I was able to totally fix the problem so here is what I did !!!
1. Went to Control Panel / Program Features / Turn Features On and Off…
2. Turned OFF: “Internet Explorer 11”
3. Restarted the system…
After restart
4. Went to Control Panel / Program Features / Turn Features On and Off…
5. Turned ON: “Internet Explorer 11”
6. Restarted system

Thanks a million, Hank. Worked beautifully, and although I’m a die-hard Chrome fan, I do like Edge for certain functions. Much appreciated.

To all: Make sure that you have your system ready to receive ALL UPDATES regardless of time of day or night.. Meaning the default action is for the system to go to sleep after some amount of time. So regardless of whether the system is a Desktop or Laptop that is always plugged in, make sure that the default action under the power plan(s) (all of them) is that the system never goes to sleep, (excluding the monitor or laptop screen).. This allows the system to do the updates, restarts in repetitive succession until everything is up-to-date.. Sometimes this take several days unless you restart the system as needed.

Lastly, since updates occur usually on Tuesday, make sure you have everything saved before you walk away from your system or an update/restart may bite you on the backside when you least want it or expect it to. I have noticed that after updates are applied and the Restart has-not-yet happened, the system runs strangely, so if you check you will probably (not always) find the system is waiting for a restart. If that is the case, fire one off ….

THIS WHOLE SET OF ISSUES concerning MS Edge, started from an incomplete update, so all of the above makes sense.
To all Good Luck and then enjoy Windows 10 and MS Edge.

I can’t believe it !! This totally worked! I’m so grateful- THANK YOU!! I have spent hours trying to get my computer to work. Watched a bunch of You Tube videos- nothing worked. The Edge icon disappeared and wouldn’t launch, and the search bar was rendered useless. I would have reset my computer, but Windows 10 wouldnt even allow me to do that! I found this page on Firefox, and now my problem is fixed.

I’m in the same boat. After the first major win10 update, edge doesn’t connect however IE is fine, as is chrome.

Solution 3 – Register app packages fixed it for me thank you, I was tearing my hair out, tried loads recomends this worked for me:) Paul.

None of that worked- have tried every solution I’ve come across. Nothing happens- it just disappeared in the last couple days and everything I try makes no difference.
