Over the last few weeks, Microsoft have been very busy releasing different variations of the companies next version of Windows. Today, the company released a new version of the embedded platform, titled Windows Embedded Standard 8.

Microsoft has today released the Windows Embedded Standard 8 CTP, which is a business tool that helps systems capture different types of data. It was created to help non-IT based devices communicate with a certain companies infrastructure.

Windows Embedded Standard 8 is “a componentized version of Windows 8 that includes features designed to meet the needs of specialized devices within intelligent systems.”

“Devices powered by Windows Embedded Standard 8 are the foundation for Intelligent Systems enabling new insights, productivity and opportunities to create lasting competitive advantage. We’re making it easier than ever for devices to extend enterprise business intelligence with improved device management, servicing and data connectivity.”

Some new features in Windows Embedded Standard 8 include Componentization, OS development tools, Advanced device lockdown, customizable branding and more.
