Brick and mortar stores are not as popular as they once were, but specialty stores can still be found across North America. Microsoft announced on Twitter the opening of four new Microsoft stores that will be located in Sarasota Florida, Wayne New Jersey, Frisco Texas, and Vancouver BC.
Microsoft continues to expand their presence as physical retailer. The expansion of Microsoft stores helps sales but also is great for brand recognition. Many, including the New York Times, have noticed that Microsoft stores often appear eerily close to Apple stores. As the two tech giants continue to clash, their stores serve as a reminder that they compete across a variety of mediums.
Microsoft stores can be found in many malls and often have an Xbox One being shown off, a selection of their products in highest demand, and classes to teach customers how to use Office and other Windows products. During the recent shortage of Microsoft Bands the only way to get one or try one on for sizing was at a Microsoft Store.
Microsoft’s numbers were up last quarter and their continued growth of their brick and mortar store presence looks to be a part of future plans.
