Azure Media Services (AMS) is currently used by many large media companies around the globe to deliver content on a massive scale, such as the Olympics. It is also used on a smaller scale to deliver projects such as the video-on-demand service Blinkbox, owned by Tesco.

With Microsoft’s new service, Azure Media Services Connector, the power and flexibility of AMS is being delivered to Azure App Service customers, in a move that will improve the utility of the service considerably. The new APIs brought through this service will ensure that the production and delivery of video-based content will become a far simpler process, while also bringing a greater deal of control that will allow specific needs to be tailored to with greater efficiency.

Currently the AMS Connector is free for use in the USA-East region, with a wider roll-out scheduled to occur later in the year.
