Microsoft Edge is deze maand officieel gestopt met het standaard uitvoeren van gebeurtenishandlers voor unload<\/em>. Websites hebben vanaf nu expliciete toestemming nodig om deze te blijven gebruiken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ondersteuning voor de unload<\/em>-gebeurtenis in Microsoft Edge is officieel verdwenen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

De stopzetting van de ondersteuning begint begin september 2026. Microsoft verwacht dat dit in oktober 2026 wereldwijd en in GCC-, GCC High- en DoD-omgevingen van kracht is. De wijziging treft vooral websites en apps die voor kritieke taken nog afhankelijk zijn van unload<\/em>. Ook WebView2-toepassingen en beheerde Edge-omgevingen kunnen gevolgen ondervinden, aldus Microsoft in het beheercentrum, bericht-ID <\/strong>MC1449170<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft zegt dat unload<\/em> nooit een betrouwbare manier was om gegevens op te slaan of te bevestigen dat een sessie is be\u00ebindigd. Pagina’s kunnen worden onderbroken of be\u00ebindigd zonder dat de gebeurtenis wordt geactiveerd. Er is nog een addertje onder het gras. Unload<\/em>-listeners kunnen er ook voor zorgen dat pagina’s de back\/forward-cache van de browser niet kunnen gebruiken. Dat kan de navigatieprestaties schaden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zo kunnen ontwikkelaars zich nu voorbereiden<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft raadt aan om logica voor het opslaan van gegevens te verplaatsen naar visibilitychange<\/em>. De overgang naar een verborgen toestand kan een betrouwbaardere laatste gelegenheid bieden om toepassingsgegevens te behouden. Voor navigatiegerelateerde scenario’s raadt Microsoft pagehide<\/em> aan. Deze gebeurtenis kan reageren wanneer gebruikers een pagina verlaten en blijft tegelijk compatibel met de back\/forward-cache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisaties moeten toepassingen identificeren die unload<\/em> gebruiken, inclusief bibliotheken van derden. Microsoft raadt ook aan om kritieke werkstromen zonder de gebeurtenis te testen voordat de uitrol is voltooid. Voor teams die meer tijd nodig hebben, biedt Microsoft het Edge-beleid ForcePermissionPolicyUnloadDefaultEnabled<\/em>. Websites kunnen unload<\/em> ook expliciet toestaan via Permissions Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deze opties zijn tijdelijke migratiemaatregelen en geen permanente oplossingen. Microsoft raadt aan om getroffen toepassingen bij te werken in plaats van er voor onbepaalde tijd op te vertrouwen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
