Running out of memory is every gadget user’s nightmare. Maybe you are recording a very special event and out of the sudden, you receive a notification informing you that the maximum storage capacity has been reached. If you want to avoid such situations, check out Samsung’s newest memory solution, the EVO Plus 256GB microSD card.

This microSD card brings an extra 56GB storage capacity, while regular memory cards offer 200 GB. The EVO Plus 256GB offers the highest capacity for a microSD card in its class, allowing users to record up to 12 hours of 4K UHD video, 33 hours of Full HD video or 46 hours of HD video. This is more than enough for all your summer holidays photos and videos.

Samsung uses a revolutionary technology for its microSD card. The V-NAND technology offers high 95MB read speeds and write speeds of up to 90MB/s, as Un-Soo Kim, Senior Vice President describes:

“With the upward trend of consumers using high-performance, high-capacity mobile devices, our new, V-NAND-based 256GB microSD card solution allows us to deliver the memory card consumers have been craving. Our EVO Plus 256GB microSD card, will provide consumers with large capacity, and high read and write speeds. We are excited to offer our customers convenient and seamless multimedia experiences when they access, store and share all of the content they create and capture.”

The EVO Plus 256GB microSD card comes with a 10-year warranty. It is nice to know this microSD card is so solid that the manufacturer guarantees it will work perfectly for 10 years. However, taken into account how fast technology evolves, we bet this 256GB storage capacity will become outdated in two or three years’ time.

You will be able to buy the EVO Plus 256GB microSD card starting from June for a price tag of $249.99 in more than 50 countries, US, Europe and China included. If you missed the SanDisk fabulous memory card discount of up to 70%, you now have two choices: buy Samsung’s microSD card or wait and hope for another major discount.

Indeed, the EVO Plus 256GB microSD card is pricier than regular 200 GB microSD cards, but it’s worth it given the extra specs:

  • Storage capacity in items: up to 55,200 photos / 23,500 MP3 files/songs
  • Waterproof (IEC 60529, IPX7)
  • X-ray-proof
  • Magnetic-proof.

Would you buy this memory card or your storage needs are below the 256GB threshold?
