In a general sense, the term speed refers to how fast an object or a human is moving. In physics, the speed is calculated as an average between distance and time.
Basically, the speed calculates how fast should a human, a car, a train, or other objects, travel a given distance to arrive at a certain time. It is measured in meters per second (m/s).
The term is also used when speaking of the Internet. The speed in computer communications is measured in bits (or Megabits), and it refers to how much data can you download in a second.
Speed is also a feature of computer software or hardware. For instance, how fast a tool runs on a certain OS or the amount of data an SSD can read and write.
