If you are the type that’s into testing the latest high-tech software and always tweaking his or her smartphone, then the new UMi Touch should be the perfect device for you. It features both great specs and desirable features, offering support for Windows 10 Mobile on what could be an Android designed platform.

UMi Touch comes pre-loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out the box for only $149.99, a price usually reserved for mid-range Android powered smartphones. In this case, though, this price point gets you 3GB of RAM, a full metal unibody, a fingerprint scanner, a 4,000 mAh battery and a 13MP rear-facing camera. But what’s really great is that UMi will offer official support for Windows 10 Mobile installation on this device.

So, if you want to use Windows 10 Mobile instead of Android, download and install a dedicated (and official) ROM which will then smoothly run on your phone — just like  built-in firmware. Since it is an official release, the version of Windows 10 Mobile offered is stable, so you won’t experience any lag, bugs, or other software related issues on your UMi Touch.

As a possible downside, you will get a device that looks like a Samsung phone, with the same central button located at the bottom of the handset that alsos include the fingerprint scanner. On Android, this key is used as the classic Home button. On Windows, its functionality is not that helpful.

Anyway, as a Windows 10 Mobile device, the UMi Touch will offer support for all the usual features you get on a regular Windows-powered smartphone such as: universal apps support (core Windows apps will run perfectly just like on a desktop or on a tablet), aLumia camera (you will get the classic Windows camera app), messaging upgrades (you can respond to a message without accessing the actual Messaging app), or speaking a hashtag (you can speak up your options, thoughts, etc.).

As for hardware performance, the phone should be able to complete most tasks without major problems, especially if you are planning in using the Windows 10 Mobile system. Below is the list of UMi Touch specifications:

  • 1.5 GHz octa-core Mediatek processor.
  • Mali T720 GPU.
  • 3 GB RAM.
  • 16 GB of internal storage.
  • 13 MP Sony IMX328 rear camera.
  • 5 MP front facing shooter.
  • 4,000 mAh battery.
  • Full metal unibody.
  • Fingerprint scanner.

The UMi Touch can be pre-ordered now for only $149.99. So, what do you think: are you thinking of buying this new device? If you are, will you choose Android Marshmallow or Windows 10 Mobile as your default OS? Tell us in the comments below!
