Microsoft Edge is out, Chromium Edge takes its place

With the release of Windows 10 KB4505903 (Build 18362.266) for users in the Release Preview ring, a new interesting change with Microsoft’s browser emerged.

Latest Release Preview build hides classic Edge

Windows 10 will hide classic Edge if you have both Microsoft Edge Dev/Canary installed.

After installing the latest update, classsic Edge disappears from the Start Menu or from Windows Search results.

As you already know, Microsoft is working on replacing the classic Edge with the Chromium Edge version, but for now the change is available for Release Preview Ring Insiders only.

This seems a lot like the transitions that happened with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. We expect that Microsoft will completely replace Edge with the better Chromium version in the future.

When will I get Chromium Edge on my Windows 10 PC?

If it will happen with 20H1 update in the Spring of 2020, it remains to be seen as Microsoft is testing the waters with these little changes and might release the new version sooner or later, depending on the Insiders feedback.

Would you change your current browser with Chromium Edge?
