If you’re not very organised, or you just work with a lot of files on a daily basis, sometimes you can loose track of them in Windows 10.
Windows Search matching has gotten worse over the time
Formerly known as Windows Desktop Search, the indexed desktop search platform has been around for a very long time. But lately, more and more Windows 10 users are annoyed by Search’s matching.
Here’s how some users describe the problem:
Search in Windows is awful. For example, you can search for Credential Manager by typing “cred”, but if you type “credential” it doesn’t even appear in the search and tries to force me to search the web. It’s horribly designed.
The worst is when it only finds something if you type the entire thing including the file extensionBut anything less than the full name it won’t find anything. It’s pathetic how they’ve gone backwards
Many more complain about the fact that sometimes it works if you just enter the first few letters of a word, and other times it doesn’t work even if you type the full word.
How can I improve Windows Search matching?
If you’re on the same boat, you should know that you can improve Search by rebuilding the index or by adding the apps you search for most often in the Start Menu.
Although the best solution is to update to Windows 10 v1903, as Search got a lot better in the latest version. The great majority of users who upgraded to v1903 said that the update did wonders for Search.
Despite that, Windows 10 May update still has some issues, so it depends on how important is the Search feature for you. If you use it on a daily basis, than be sure to update your PC.
