A word processor (WP) is an application for computers that can be used to produce any sort of text and documents, including composition, editing, formatting, and sometimes printing.
It can also refer to the old type of devices used during the 1970s and 80s in offices. It had a keyboard for text-entry and printing functions of an electric typewriter.
Henry Mill was the first to patent the first word processing device, a Machine for Transcribing Letters, that was very similar to a typewriter.
Nowadays, we use software instead of a separate machine, such as Microsoft Word popular for the Windows system, and MacWrite on the Apple Macintosh.
