The WWE Network is a planned cable television network owned by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) that was announced to be planned for launch in 2012. The announced goal was to form a “hybrid” network incorporating a traditional TV distribution model with online/mobile distribution. It was announced on the September 5, 2011 episode of WWE Raw that the WWE Network would launch sometime in 2012. It was first reported that WWE was looking to launch the network April 1, 2012.
