Microsoft’s Xbox App for Windows 10 Gets Plenty of New Features
As we said multiple times, Microsoft cares about gamers and gaming experience in Windows 10. Therefore the company updated its Xbox app for Windows 10 and introduced a lot of cool features and improvements.
Microsoft made a lot of announcements at recent E3 conference, like the new Xbox One Elite controller and the ability to stream games through Xbox app. But that’s not all, as Microsoft’s Larry Hryb yesterday presented a plenty of new features for Xbox app for Windows 10.
From now on, every time you install a game from the Windows Store, it will appear in the new My Games list. Besides official games from Windows Store, you can also add your own, already installed games from your computer to the My games list, just like you can on Steam. Another similarity with Steam is the addition of Featured games section on the home screen.
There’s a new sharing option which will allow you to share your achievements to friends through Activity Feed and Showcase, just like you can on Xbox One. You can also share your recorded game clips or screenshots, so your friends will be notified about your every activity on Xbox One.
Also, Microsoft decided to rename the Avatars app on Windows 10 to Xbox Avatar, and some design aspects have been updated as well. There’s also a “Take a photo” feature, so you can take a picture of your posing avatar.
And finally, Microsoft added an ability to launch your games from their Game Hubs, view details about the game in the Windows store and find People who are also interested in that game.
This update comes with the latest Windows 10 Technical Preview build 10158, so you need to reach for update and install this build in order to receive an update for the Xbox app.
