The original Xbox One vanished from the US store while in the UK, Microsoft’s store lists the console as sold out.
Rest in peace, Xbox One
The original Xbox One looked like a VCR unit when it was first released four years ago, and it was priced $100 more than Sony’s PlayStation 4. Due to the gap and the fall out from Microsoft’s mixed messaging on the Xbox One, Sony managed to take an early lead in the whole console war. Microsoft closed the price gap by eliminating the Kinect sensor from the Xbox One after half a year since the console’s debut on the market.
The Xbox One did its best to match the sales pace of the PlayStation 4, but Microsoft decided that it was about time it refocused its efforts on improved hardware and games.
Microsoft switches to the Xbox One S, Xbox One X for hardcore fans
Microsoft launched the Xbox One S last year, and it stopped the Xbox 360 production as well. The smaller console’s design was widely praised over the original one, and it included 4K support for Blu-ray discs and apps such as Amazon Video and Netflix.
Last Sunday, Microsoft opened the pre-order for the Xbox One X. The company stated that this console is the fastest selling Xbox pre-order ever. The Xbox One X units on Amazon were sold out in 25 minutes, and according to the company, fans have pre-ordered more Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition consoles in the first five days than any Xbox consoles ever.
Next month, the company will open the Xbox One X standard edition pre-orders. So, in case you haven’t got yours until now, stay tuned and grab it as soon as possible.
