A while back, we reviewed the official Yahoo Mail! app for Windows 8 users from the Windows Store which subsequently was updated a couple of times. Now, it seems that the app has disappeared and Yahoo has no more apps on the Store.

If you own a Windows tablet and you are also an Yahoo user, then chances are you have downloaded by now the official Yahoo! Mail app. Which means you are in luck, because as it looks right now, the app has been pulled from the Windows Store and Yahoo! has been left without any apps at all.

While this could be really bad for Microsoft as it shows that a major company is losing interest in the concept, I think Yahoo! has some rebranding ideas behind the curtain.

Of course, you can still configure the Windows 8 Mail app to work with your Yahoo account, while for Messenger, but I’m not sure if it can meet the performance of a first party release.Ā But, my best guess is that this is a temporary situation and Yahoo will come up with an official explanation.

If not, then this move is a little puzzling. Microsoft is already working on Windows 10, which will sport some nice features Ā that will make Windows 7 and Windows XP users upgrade to it. Therefore, I don’t see why Yahoo! would pull its app from the Windows Store, taking into account the fact that it looked and behave pretty professional.
