ROG Ally gets a frame rate boost from AMD's AFMF technology

Asus has a great announcement for gamers: ROG Ally gets a significant boost, thanks to the addition of AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) technology. Asus and Lenovo promised to bring this technology into their handheld consoles and it seems that Asus is taking the first step.

What is AFMF and why do we need it?

AFMF is all about making your games run smoother than ever, with added motion clarity. It’s like giving your gaming experience a turbo boost without having to do much. Just a simple update and voilà, you’re set for an even better gaming session.

With the Super Resolution 3 feature based on AFMF, you can jump from an average of 59 FPS to 169 FPS in Immortals of Aveum which is a huge boost. At least that’s how it shows up in Asus tests from the clip above.

Now, we’ve been following the ROG Ally updates closely, and the ASUS team really made some significant improvements to the console. Last year, they’ve added gyroscope support, tweaking the CPU boost options and bumped up the VRAM to 6G, and most gamers agree that they see a difference in gameplay smoothness.

With the ROG Ally 2 on the horizon, it’s clear they’re committed to pushing the envelope further. However, not long ago, ROG Ally users had a lot of issues due to Windows & AMD driver updates, so let’s hope that it won’t happen again.

If you own a ROG Ally, hit the update button because the update will be issued today, 04.25. And if you’re on the fence about getting one, this might just be the nudge you needed.
