Sony surprised everyone with their blog announcement by launching the new Silent Hill: The Short Message.
And it’s not only because it offers a continuation to the game that the fans were hoping for, but also because it is the first Japanese-developed Silent Hill game in 20 years by Konami and the producer Otoi Okamoto.
Is Silent Hill: The Short Message exclusive for PS5?
Although it was only released for PS5, Xbox and PC gamers are also still hoping to get their hands on the long anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake.
Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 can be bought and played and they are still present in the Xbox store, so why not Silent Hill: The Short Message?
However, the last Silent Hill, AKA PT, was PlayStation-exclusive and was never released on Xbox, or PC. Konami didn’t make any comments on any Xbox or PC versions of The Short Message, but this is really a big gaming title and things might change, so don’t lose your hope.
What you need to know about Silent Hill: The Short Message?
Konami released this title for free on PS5, so that everyone gets a chance to play it. The reason behind this strategy is that the developer paired with Hexadrive and used it as a testbed for new graphics technologies.
As for the game itself, the trailer you could watch at the beginning of this article features a new protagonist called Anita, who is holding her phone and explores a house called The Villa.
The psychological horror game focuses on contemporary problems within social media and mobile phone usage:
We wanted to make a new, modern Silent Hill. As part of that we explored how we could incorporate contemporary problems. We ended up looking at how modern youth communicate online and through phones, and the role that could play in a psychological horror story. For instance, a frightening thing about social media is how even insignificant individual comments can, en masse, build and build until they become this overwhelming wave of hate crashing down on you.

From the trailer, we can tell that Silent Hill: The Short Message will become the new horror fans title to play. It has great graphics and an an exciting story to follow.
To get the new game, log into your account on PS5, go to the PlayStation Store and search for Silent Hill: The Short Message, then download it for free.
