Microsoft has quietly released a new system update for Xbox 360 consoles (via Reddit). It’s not clear yet what this new version of the OS (2.0.17559.0) includes, as the software giant has yet to add the release notes on the Xbox Support website. We’ll keep an eye on this page and we’ll update this post if we get more details about this new update.

The Xbox 360 received a previous system update back in August, which according to Microsoft brought “minor bug fixes and improvements.” Before that, the Xbox 360 OS received two updates in 2018 and 2016, which was the year when Microsoft stopped manufacturing the console.

As the Xbox 360 will celebrate its 14th anniversary on November 22, which is the date of the console’s US launch, it’s great to see that Microsoft is still supporting it as well as all of its Xbox Live online features. We hope this ongoing support will continue once Microsoft’s next-gen Project Scarlett console is released in holiday 2020.

Update 9:15AM PDT: The Xbox Support website now indicates that this new system update only brings “minor bug fixes and improvements,” just like the August update.
