#WindowsInsiders4Good Give Month announced

Back in September 2014, Microsoft announced Windows 10 along with the Windows Insider program, a new initiative to allow Windows enthusiasts to sign up for receiving preview builds of the new operating system and reporting bugs to the company. Since Dona Sarkar became the new head of the program earlier in the summer, the exec announced her wish to “evolve the program to engage even deeper with our Insiders,” which led the team to organize a series of global hackathons called #WINsiders4Good to tackle important social issues.
Today, the Windows Insider team shared two important announcements with the community. The first is the release of the “Create-A-Thon: Event in a Box” kit, a summary of the best practices to help Windows Insiders host their own hackathons. The second regards use of the hashtag #WINsiders4Good Give Month to invite all Windows Insiders and Microsoft employees in retail stores to organize “Create-A-Thons”:
Dozens of stores will be hosting Create-A-Thons this month, if you are near a retail store, join them! On November 8, visit a store near you to hear about the solutions that Insiders helped to create during Give Month!
If you don’t live near a Microsoft Store, lead the way in your city. Bring together creatives and technical people in your local community, because that is where the real power of change happens. And use the magic of technology in helping to chip away at a difficult, entrenched issue that you care about. We want to empower every Insider to do events like these and be the next generation of leaders. Download the Create-A-Thon: Event in a Box and start organizing, tell us what you’re planning and we can let Insiders near you know. And tell us what you are achieving wherever you may be in the world so we can share your stories!
This new initiative seems an interesting opportunity to make the Windows Insider program a more involving and rewarding experience for its members, and if you feel a bit creative this is the perfect way to put your skills to good use and make some new friends.
