Microsoft has today made a small change to the way developers subscribe to the Windows Developer Center. According to a few developers, Microsoft has removed theĀ 1 year renewal period, meaning developers can keep their apps in the Store forever without the worry of needing money to pay a yearly subscription.
We’re not too sure why Microsoft has made this change, and there’s not a lot else to say regarding the matter. Developers can login to their Dev Center portal now and check out the Subscriptions page. There you will see a notification saying “Developer accounts don’t expire”.
For developers, this change is definitely a good one. Hopefully Microsoft will talk more about why they have made this change in the future, but in the meantime enjoy a lifetime of your apps staying in the Windows Store!
