Internet Explorer 8 beats out Internet Explorer 10 in popularity, according to December 2012 market share

As December 2012 ends, new data from Net Applications points out that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 is still more popular than Internet Explorer 10. In fact, Internet Explorer 9 is second most-popular right under Internet Explorer 8. Google’s Chrome 23 browser comes in third place in browser market share.

As you can see from the image above, Internet Explorer 8 leads the browser market share with 23.29% while Internet Explorer 9 has a 21.35% market share. Google’s Chrome 23 browser comes in at 15.42% share while Mozilla’s Firefox 17 comes in at 10.74% share. Internet Explorer 10, which originally started off as a Windows 8 exclusive browser then made available to Windows 7, only has a 0.96% share. While Internet Explorer 10 has only been in the market for four months, Internet Explorer 9 has been available for over three years. Based on the data provided, Internet Explorers 6, 7, 8, and 9 have more market share than Internet Explorer 10. As the browser matures, we expect to see the share climb fast.
