According to new leaked documents, Microsoft was interested and actually considered purchasing OnLive, a very popular game streaming service. Microsoft was looking into this sometime around 2010, when OnLive wasn’t that “big”. Now, however, OnLive is one of the biggest game streamers worldwide.

Microsoft was considering OnLive a “potential acquisition target” way back in 2010. At that time OnLive did not have the vast variety of hardware that they have today. So an acquisition would be way more costly than it would have been in 2010. According to the downloaded version of the documents, Microsoft was considering OnLive as a potential threat towards the Xbox 720. If Microsoft were to purchase OnLive today, it would be a lot more expensive and difficult.
