Microsoft appoints new VP for India and South Asia, boosting regional presence and AI-driven initiatives

Microsoft has appointed Puneet Chandok as the new Corporate Vice President of Microsoft India and South Asia. Starting on September 1, 2023, he will take over the operational responsibilities from Anant Maheshwari.

Puneet will lead the integration of Microsoft’s businesses across South Asia, including countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The focus will be on enhancing the company’s regional presence and prioritizing key industries through a customer-centric approach with generative AI at its core.

Puneet’s appointment comes at a time of significant market expansion for Microsoft in cloud technology and digital innovation. The company boasts the largest global partner ecosystem, with a strong network in India generating high cloud revenue. With investments in local infrastructure, including plans for a new data centre in Hyderabad, Microsoft aligns its growth with India’s emergence as a global innovation hub.

Puneet joined Microsoft from AWS, where he led the India and South Asia business. He has a solid background, having held senior roles at McKinsey in India, Asia, and IBM. Puneet Chandok holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. He has degrees and diplomas in commerce and various computer-related fields.
