Microsoft Edge 128.0.2690.1

Microsoft Edge 128.0.2690.1 is now available in the Dev Channel, bringing many fixes and small changes with it.

Firstly, a little something for those who appreciate smooth browsing. The update brings keyboard focus functionality for the hide button used in autofill. This is a minor alteration, but it adds convenience, particularly for people switching between a keyboard and a mouse.

If you have ever been frustrated by crashes while restoring tabs or during a sync status change on your mobile devices, this update has directly addressed these problems for Android and iOS users.

The update also made the user interface smoother. Did you ever notice how the extensions menu did not work well with hover states that were high in contrast? Or do you remember that strange bleed at the lower corner of the side pane when hovering? Neither of these things exist anymore. Also, they have ensured that the auto-open toggle truly recalls your decision and that the ‘Sign in to sync data’ button doesn’t linger on your screen after you sign in.

This update will clarify the UI for those who see two address bars or find all their tab groups listed as open even after deleting some. Users who pay attention to details will like that deleting search results no longer remove unrelated history records.

They have not left Linux users out—there is a solution for that wrong spacing in the title bar. And Android people, if you were confused by the ‘chrome-native://new tab/’ URL on the feedback page for NTP or found no response when clicking the settings button in the Global Speed extension, these problems have been fixed.

This is a reminder that the stable version of Edge 128 (with a new Copilot button) will be available in the week starting August 22nd, 2024. You can read Microsoft Edge 128.0.2690.1’s full changelog here.
