Copilot language support

Microsoft will expand Copilot’s language support to include 12 new languages. According to the latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the AI model will support these new languages across all the Microsoft 365 Copilot apps, including the AI model in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other platforms.

The new languages include Bulgarian, Croatian, Estonian, Greek, Indonesian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Romanian, Serbian (Latin), Slovak, Slovenian, and Vietnamese. Users should also expect a significant improvement in existing languages, such as Dutch (Belgium), German (Switzerland), English (UK), Spanish (Mexico), and French (Canada).

Here’s what the entry says:

The Copilot for Microsoft 365 team is working on supporting 12 new languages across all M365 Copilot features: Bulgarian, Croatian, Estonian, Greek, Indonesian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Romanian, Serbian (Latin), Slovak, Slovenia, and Vietnamese. They’re also improving the handling of these language variants: Dutch (Belgium), German (Switzerland), English (UK), Spanish (Mexico), and French (Canada).

This means users from all Europe can use Copilot in their native language, and the AI model will respond to them in that language, without the need to translate. Alternatively, you can converse with Copilot in another language other than English, and have the AI tool respond to you in English.

The additional support should make Copilot a valuable tool to have when dealing or processing lots of information. For example, such an extended support could be useful in cases where forms, or quizzes are set in multiple languages.

The Redmond-based tech giant will add this support for the new languages starting in September.
