Windows 11 users will be able to share files directly from the Start menu, taskbar, and jump lists

Microsoft has released a beta update for Windows 11, including improvements to the operating system’s file-sharing features. The changes are included in the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4445, now available to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels.

The most notable change in Build 22635 is the addition of new share buttons in various parts of the Windows 11 UI. Spotted by @phantomofearth, you can share files directly from the Start menu, the taskbar, and the jump lists that appear when you right-click the icons of apps like Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop.

The new sharing options are hidden by default in Build 22635, but users can enable them with the help of a third-party app called ViveTool. (The app allows users to access hidden or experimental features in Windows 11.)

It’s unclear when the new sharing buttons will be available to all Windows 11 users, but given that they’re already present in a beta build, we’d guess that it won’t be too long before they’re widely available.
