Xbox Elite Controller

Xbox has announced a new update to its ecosystem, including the Xbox console, Xbox app on Windows, and accessories.

In a blog post, the company says the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 now has thumbstick calibration, and the Xbox Wireless Controller and Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 have self-calibration for triggers. The Xbox Accessories app, meanwhile, now lets you map thumbstick movement to keyboard inputs and mouse clicks, and allows you to use hat switches on the Xbox Adaptive Controller to control a different axis.

The update brings back the ability to send and receive Friend Requests. It also introduces the ability to follow other players without a mutual connection.

The search functionality on Xbox consoles and the Xbox app on Windows has been updated, with Microsoft using AI to improve accuracy and relevance.

The Xbox app on Windows is also getting the new Home experience, which brings together the latest games, news, recommendations and more in a “compact” format.

Xbox consoles are getting new customization features, including the ability to create a gamerpic from an achievement art or screenshot, and to zoom and crop images for use as a home background.
