Copilot Agents, the AI models that can be built, used, and commercialized, are soon coming to OneDrive, says Microsoft in a recent announcement to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.
This means you can build, use, and share your agents using files and content stored in your OneDrive. To develop and store your Copilot Agents, you’ll need a Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license.
Here’s what the entry says:
Find yourself referencing the same files to Copilot in OneDrive? We are bringing the power of agents to OneDrive, allowing you to build, use, and share your own agents using files and content stored in your OneDrive. This feature requires a Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license and will be available to commercial customers on OneDrive Web.
It’ll be interesting to see if these Copilot Agents in OneDrive can be commercialized the same way as the regular Copilot Agents for the Office apps.
If you remember, the Redmond-based tech giant recently announced a unified store for Copilot Agents that will take into consideration all the agents used on all 365 apps and promote them in the store.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see, and we’ll have to do so for a while: the Copilot Agents for OneDrive are scheduled to be released in April 2025.
