Incredibly weird: Microsoft labels its own email as junk

Yes, you read that right: it seems that Microsoft is labeling its own email, in which the company talks about a price increase for one of its services, as junk.

On Reddit, a user posted an image of an email they received from the Redmond-based tech giant. Microsoft announced a price increase in the email, but ironically, the company’s app, Outlook, labeled it as junk, saying

This message was identified as junk. We’ll delete it after 30 days.

Outlook then allows the user to move the email to junk or not.

This is not the first time Microsoft has done it, and it’s actually a good thing that Outlook flags such emails as junk. It shows that the Redmond-based tech giant is indeed dedicated to erasing malware and protecting users from harm.

Recently, Microsoft also flagged its Edge extensions when they became the host for potential cyberattacks.

What to do when this happens? Make sure the email is indeed from Microsoft and not rnicrosoft – yes, exactly – as hackers are getting increasingly more intelligent about their attacks nowadays.

Read it carefully, look for suspicious links, and check the sender as many times as necessary to ensure it’s not a scam. Be extra careful with letters and words. If you’re not sure about it, contact Microsoft or speak with the IT security expert within your organization.
