Windows 10 December Patch Tuesday

Microsoft has officially released the December 2024 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 10, which means all supported operating system versions are now receiving new cumulative updates. The updates include security fixes for various operating system components.

The Updates

  • KB5048652 for Windows 10 versions 20H2, 21H2, and 22H2.
  • KB5048661 for version 1809
  • KB5048671 for version 1607 (the version that shipped with the original Surface Book and Surface Pro 4)
  • KB5048703 for version 1507 (the original release of Windows 10)

The updates contain the same security fixes Microsoft detailed in the Windows release health dashboard.

It’s worth noting that 20H2 and 1909 have reached the end of servicing, meaning they’re no longer supported. However, organizations still running 20H2 or 1909 can purchase extended security updates through January 2025.

In addition to the updates, Microsoft has also released the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for each of the supported Windows 10 versions.

The SSU is a small update that improves the process of installing other updates. The new SSU version is as follows:

  • KB5011652 for 20H2, 21H2, and 22H2
  • KB5011658 for 1809
  • KB5010651 for 1607
  • KB5011683 for 1507

The updates are available now via Windows Update, and standalone installers can be found in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

These are the last Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 10 in December. Remember that Windows 10 will be discontinued by the end of next year, so you might want to upgrade to Windows 11 until then.
