Phone Link Update Adds Remote PC Locking and Clipboard Sharing for Android

Microsoft has rolled out a major update for the Phone Link app that strengthens how Android devices connect with Windows 11 PCs. The 25102.140.0 update, released on December 8, focuses on security, file sharing, and smoother cross-device interaction.

Remotely lock your Windows 11 PC from Android

The standout feature in this update lets Android users lock their Windows 11 PC remotely through the Link to Windows app. By pressing the new Lock PC button, users can instantly secure their computer even when they are not nearby. This feature helps protect devices from unauthorized access if a PC is left unattended.

Improved file sharing between phone and PC

Microsoft has also enhanced the Send files feature. Users can now choose files directly from the Phone Link app and send them to their PC using the send option. Windows then shows a notification once the transfer finishes, making the process clearer and more reliable.

Cross-device clipboard sharing now available

The update adds clipboard sharing between Android and Windows 11. Once devices are linked, users can copy text or images on their phone and paste them on their PC, and the same works in reverse. This feature simplifies quick copy-and-paste tasks across devices.

Phone Link now includes a Recent activity section. This area displays shared files and clipboard items in one place, allowing users to review recent cross-device actions at a glance.

Easier phone screen mirroring

Screen mirroring has also received a usability upgrade. Users can now start mirroring directly from the app using Mirror to PC or Cast to PC buttons. Earlier versions required more steps on the PC, so this change makes casting faster.

Laptop status details on your phone

Laptop users will now see their PC’s battery level and network strength inside the app. The update does not allow remote system control, such as changing volume levels.
