Microsoft Office Apps Deliberately Highlighted on Macbook Neo to Steal Windows Users
Apple and Microsoft have spent decades in the computing world and are considered fierce rivals. However, every so often, the two tech giants cross paths in unexpected ways. That appears to be happening again with the newly launched $599 MacBook Neo.
The latest budget MacBook feels like a masterstroke from Apple, which is clearly aimed at winning over as many Windows PC buyers as possible. Interestingly, the Cupertino giant is reportedly pitching its new MacBook by showcasing Microsoft’s popular Office apps.
Apple’s latest MacBook Neo is making Windows users look at it twice
As reported by folks at Windows Central and Windows Latest, Apple is showcasing several Microsoft Office apps in the marketing promos of MacBook Neo. In the “Get the highlights” carousel of the MacBook Neo product page, you can see Microsoft Office apps highlighted. Among them are Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. These apps sit alongside Slack and Canva, but the presence of Microsoft’s Office suite stands out the most.
Not to mention, it’s a cheeky way to pull in Microsoft customers. Apple is reportedly also telling potential buyers that the apps they already rely on will run smoothly on macOS. The news outlet also notes that the same theme also appears in Apple’s MacBook Neo introduction video (embedded below), in which the narrator of the video is heard saying that it is easy to add the apps you already use. In that very frame, three Microsoft Office apps, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, show up in the recently used apps list.
Undoubtedly, the company has deliberately chosen to showcase Microsoft Office apps. Apart from the subtle marketing tactic, Windows Latest also notes that the MacBook Neo includes a dedicated “Switch from PC to Mac” section on its product page. The page walks users through moving files and apps from Windows to macOS.

Apple even claims that a Mac can do everything a Windows PC can do, while suggesting that existing apps will run even faster. With the $599 price point, Apple appears to be chasing Windows users who, all this time, may have wanted to jump to Mac but couldn’t because of the pricing.
If you are on Windows, my question to you is: are you leaning toward the new MacBook Neo? Are you willing to make a switch at the given price point? Let us know in the comments below.
