Fan-Made Zelda: Twilight Princess Port is Coming to PC

Fans of The Legend of Zelda series have a reason to celebrate. While Nintendo hasn’t announced any new Zelda titles for 2026, a fan-made port is bringing the beloved 2006 game Twilight Princess to PC.

Originally released on the GameCube and Wii, Twilight Princess is known as one of the darkest Zelda games ever. It took everything players loved about Ocarina of Time and amplified it with a more serious tone, new characters, and a story set directly after the N64 classic.

Just to be clear, this new PC version isn’t official. Over on YouTube, Video Game Esoterica has reverse-engineered the game’s machine code and translated it into C++, making it playable on modern PCs for the first time. Early gameplay footage shows the familiar environments, combat, and exploration intact, now running outside Nintendo’s consoles.

The port is part of a larger effort to bring other GameCube classics to PC. The Wind Waker, Zelda’s cartoonish predecessor, and Animal Crossing are also getting similar fan-made treatments, highlighting the growing community effort to preserve and modernize these games.

Notably, the creators urge players to own the original titles to respect Nintendo’s IP. While a Zelda movie is reportedly in the works, this fan-made PC port might just be the best way to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary.

All that said, fans can stay updated through the linifadomra Discord group, which already has nearly 1,000 members. It’s a hub for those following PC ports of classic GameCube titles, sharing progress, tips, and excitement over the new ways to experience these legendary games.
