Xbox COO Reveals Gears of War E-Day Direct Runtime, Hints at Deep Dive

The game will be showcased right after June 7 Xbox Games Showcase

It seems Gears of War: E-Day is finally getting its big moment. After months of silence since its cinematic reveal, last month Xbox confirmed a dedicated Direct showcase that should give fans their first proper look at the game. Now, Xbox COO has shared some more deatils Gears of War E-Day Direct runtime.

Gears of War E-Day Direct set for 30 minutes after Xbox Games Showcase

Speaking on the official Xbox podcast a day ago, Matt Booty confirmed that the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day Direct will run for ful 30 minutes. The presentation, as you may know, is scheduled for June 7, right after the main Xbox Games Showcase.

“I’ll say that we’ve got the Gears Direct coming, and after seeing that, we’ve probably got like a full 30 minutes, which is really great. And I don’t know. I just love everybody in that studio, the work they’re doing. I’m excited about the game, and we’re going to have a fantastic, full 30 minutes of stuff to see,” Booty said in the podcast.

That runtime alone suggests this won’t be just another teaser. It seems Microsoft is set to give a proper deep dive, likely covering gameplay, and story setup. To catch you up, E-Day is set before the original trilogy, which focuses on the early days of the Locust War. So, you can expect a closer look at younger versions of key characters and how everything began.

The fact that the game gets its own standalone Direct, separate from the main showcase, says a lot. It gives The Coalition room to fully break things down without rushing through details. The details have emerged at a time when rumors about possible games exclusivity was recently fueled by Xbox dashboard ad. Speaking of Xbox, let’s not forget that the latest update for Series X|S consoles rolled out globally with Quick Resume and UI improvements.
